Long Term Care: EU-LAC Forum report now available
The report of the EU-LAC Multi-Stakeholder Forum “Long-term care in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean: Different trajectories, common challenges?”, held in Berlin on 5 May 2026, is now available. Valeria De Tommaso also took part in the Forum (read more here).
The Forum brought together around 100 representatives from institutions, international organisations, research centres and civil society to discuss the transformations affecting long-term care systems across the two regions.
Discussions focused on the consequences of population ageing and some of the main challenges for the future of care, including shortages of qualified workers, working conditions, employment formalisation, financing, governance and multi-stakeholder cooperation.
The report summarises the main discussions and reflections that emerged from the Forum and contributes to the work of the EU-LAC Bi-regional Pact on Care, which aims to strengthen the exchange of experiences and cooperation between Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.
